The National Basketball Association (NBA) today announced a multiyear partnership with Sportradar and Second Spectrum that will expand the league’s global distribution of statistics and will implement a new, state-of-the-art league-wide player-tracking system.
Providing unique benefits through our exclusive partnerships
Our vision is based on the commitment to building long-term relationships with our league partners. We offer innovative and competitive services and solutions that continually evolve how fans experience sports and how leagues maintain integrity. Our partnerships with some of the top leagues in professional sports provides us a competitive advantage in distributing accurate and fast data.
Creating exciting new products with Next Gen Stats
We are the NFL’s exclusive distributor for official real-time scores, player statistics and play-by-play data (Game Statistics and Information System/ “GSIS”) as well as the NFL’s proprietary Next Gen Stats. This partnership allows the NFL to distribute statistical data in new and innovative ways, across a variety of endpoints, including apps, social media platforms and connected devices.
Next Gen Stats, the initiative first introduced in the 2014 NFL season, consists of real-time, location-based data such as speed, acceleration and distance traveled, for all players, in all games. This unique information, alongside GSIS, is distributed by Sportradar to give fans a closer look into the game, and allow them to experience it in ways never seen before. Insights from Next Gen Stats also are available for fans in-stadium, at home and everywhere else that NFL content is consumed.
Partners in many different areas of the game
Sportradar makes statistical information for the NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League more widely available than ever before, delivering data to fans, teams, media and other data users in more than 80 countries and territories. As the official provider of real-time NBA league statistics, Sportradar distributes player-tracking data from Second Spectrum, the new official optical tracking provider of the NBA. Player-tracking data includes advanced statistics, such as speed, distance, drives, paint touches and defensive impact, and is based on unique technology for machine understanding.
The NBA has also incorporated Sportradar’s Integrity Services into its existing game integrity protection measures.
We are the exclusive third-party provider of real-time NHL game data
Sportradar provides real-time play-by-play and game statistics via the league’s proprietary Hockey Information Tracking System (HITS) to media and technology companies worldwide.
HITS provides critical in-game stats such as time on ice, face-offs won/lost, shots on goal, missed shots, shot types, plus/minus, face-off percentage and numerous time on ice subcategories.
The league also uses Sportradar’s Fraud Detection System to monitor global gaming activity and trends across more than 550 operators worldwide in order to pinpoint unusual patterns that could be cause for concern.
Unlocking the power of Esports data
Sportradar has exclusive rights to process and distribute real-time match data going deep into fantasy-level detail, and offers live scores to customers across the globe. As always with Sportradar, speed and accuracy that operators can rely on characterize our offering. Moreover, our Fraud Detection System ensures that the ESL has the best and broadest insights into any suspicious behaviors around its competitions.
