Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf was sent back home with an appendicitis before the Ducks’ game on Tuesday night in Dallas against the Stars.

Getzlaf is scheduled for a non-emergency appendectomy on Wednesday in Orange County (Calif.), the team said in a statement.

The Ducks expect Getzlaf to be sidelined about four to 12 days. He has experienced discomfort for the past six weeks, the team said.

In eight games this season, Getzlaf has no goals and one assist. The 30-year-old veteran has scored 208 goals and accumulated 471 assists during 11 seasons with the Ducks.
