Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will miss six-to-eight weeks after breaking his left hand Thursday at his home, according to the Boston Globe.
Rondo, who reportedly injured his hand when he slipped in the shower, underwent surgery Friday. He is expected to miss the first three-to-10 games of the regular season.
Once considered one of the more durable players in the NBA, injuries appear to be catching up with the 28-year-old Rondo. He played at least 77 games in his first four seasons, but has not played in more than 68 in the last four years.
Rondo has managed just 68 games total the last two seasons, primarily due to a torn ACL. The 2013-14 season marked the first year when Rondo has not averaged at least 11 assists since 2009.
Rookie Marcus Smart likely will get the first opportunity to replace Rondo at point guard.
