NHL, NHLPA swapping proposals

(SportsData) — Delegations from the NHL and the NHL Players Association have met and exchanged proposals multiple times this week in an attempt to end the league lockout and salvage at least some of the 2012-13 season. The two sides worked late into the night on New Year’s Eve, then reconvened on both Tuesday and Wednesday. The NHL and NHLPA have exchanged five proposals over the span.

“In our response, there were certain things that the players’ association asked for that we agreed to, there were some things that we moved in their direction and there were other things that we said no,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman told reporters Tuesday night in regards to what, at the time, was the latest NHLPA proposal. “But that’s part of the process.”

According to multiple reports, the NHLPA made its latest proposal to the NHL Wednesday afternoon, with the league expected to review it and respond Wednesday evening. Among the current debate points are pensions and revenue sharing.
