Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon could face a one-year suspension after testing positive for alcohol, according to the NFL Network.
Off-field issues off the field have plagued Gordon in recent months, as he was suspended 10 games to begin the 2014 season after violating the league’s drug abuse policy, and he did not play in Week 17 against the Baltimore Ravens due to a violation of team rules.
“Clearly we are very disappointed to hear the latest report regarding Josh,” a spokesperson for the Browns said after the report surfaced. “At this point, due to the confidential nature of the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, we have not been made aware by the league of a failed test. We are in the process of gathering more information and will provide further comment at the appropriate time.”
Gordon, 23, caught 24 passes for 303 yards in five games this season. He led the NFL with 1,646 yards in just 14 games in in 2013.
