The Miami Dolphins announced Tuesday morning that running back Knowshon Moreno has been placed on the Injured Reserve list due to a torn ACL, ending his season.
Moreno suffered the injury in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL.com. It’s the same ACL he tore in 2011, per the Palm Beach Post.
Moreno was signed by the Dolphins in March to a one-year deal, worth $3.275 million per ESPN, after spending the first five years of his career with the Denver Broncos. He suffered a dislocated elbow in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, but returned this past Sunday against the Packers, at least two weeks before the low-end of the initial estimates.
He rushed for only 10 yards on six carries against the Packers as Lamar Miller, who took on the starting role in Moreno’s absence, continued to get a majority of the carries. With Moreno now out for the year, Miller will hold onto the starting spot, with Damien Williams and Daniel Thomas battling for backup touches.
