Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week and will miss four to six weeks, ESPN reports. He is expected to return sometime during training camp.
Moreno is coming off a career-best season with the Denver Broncos, rushing for 1,039 yards on 242 carries. He also caught 60 passes for 548 yards and totaled 13 touchdowns. However, he was held to 17 yards on five carries in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks.
Moreno, 26, played 16 games in 2013 for just the second time in his five-year career, but found little interest as a free agent despite the career year, signing a one-year deal with the Dolphins. He reportedly was overweight during the team’s minicamp, and surgery will put him further behind in his conditioning.
Lamar Miller is likely to enter Week 1 as the Dolphins’ starting running back.
