The Toronto Blue Jays placed third baseman Brett Lawrie on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a broken finger. Lawrie was diagnosed with a fractured right index finger after being hit in the hand with a pitch Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds.

He does not currently have a firm timetable for return, but told MLB.com after the game that he will focus on letting the injury heal.

“I don’t foresee me being ready in two days, I promise you that,” Lawrie said. “Just one of those things, man. I don’t even know [how long]. I’m still trying to take it all in. It’s one of those things that’s going to get better when it gets better. That’s pretty much all I can say about it.”

Lawrie, 24, has a .244/.299/.419 batting line with 12 home runs and 38 RBI in 69 games this season.
